Performer, teacher for improvisation, director/Regisseur

Matthias Rüttimann, born 1963, studied German Literature and Philosophy at the university of Bern, Switzerland, and Vienna, Austria. Master in Philosophy and Literature 1991.
He studied action theater improvisation with Ruth Zaporah, USA (www.actiontheater.com), Sten Rudstrom, Berlin (www.stenrudstrom.com), Peter Honegger, Switzerland. He was at the School of Physical Theater of Ron East, London, and in classes of Bruce Myers (Paris), Markus Zohner (Switzerland), Liz Pauwels (Belgien) among others.
He started to teach improvisation in 1998 and performed improvisation in different groups. Legendary is his solo performance "Alone with Shakespeare", improvisation of seven dramas in seven days.
As a director he works with his artistic collective OFF SZoEN, a group of different artists as actors, filmmakers, musicians, visual artists and set designer. 2008 he created the open air theater "Don Quijote - the making of dreams", a big show with actors, artists, dancers and fireworkers in Biel. 2012 he created "Nachtschicht - Nocturne", a show for a symphonic orchestra, hip hop dancers and acrobats.
With Philipp Boë he created some visual outstanding performances as "Mémoir de la Nuit" which have been presented on festivals in London, Brasilia, Portugal, Iran and others more.
With Marc Calame and Thomas Batschelet he forms the performance group unversehen, an experimental laboratory group that researches the borders of reality and fiction.
Finally he is a teacher for drama at the Gymnasium of Interlaken.
